Traitements esthétiques injectables pour les peaux de couleur

La population de patients en quête d’interventions esthétiques est de plus en plus diversifiée. Selon l’American Society of Plastic Surgery, le nombre de personnes de couleur (POC) qui ont eu recours à des traitements esthétiques peu invasifs a augmenté de 50% au cours des 10 dernières années. Il est probable que cette hausse soit liée à la sensibilisation, à l’acceptation et à la disponibilité grandissantes des procédures esthétiques, ainsi qu’aux changements démographiques. Plus de 20% des Canadiens seraient des POC. De plus, ces personnes de couleur prennent une part de plus en plus importante dans la population nationale : on prévoit que les POC représenteront 33 % de la population du Canada d’ici 2036.
Avec l’accroissement de la diversité raciale et ethnique des patients recherchant une intervention esthétique, les dermatologues doivent absolument comprendre les différences anatomiques et fonctionnelles, les préférences esthétiques ainsi que les adaptations nécessaires des techniques de traitement pour cette population de patients. Cet article a pour but d’examiner la documentation sur les traitements esthétiques chez les POC, de fournir des perles cliniques et d’envisager une approche des soins aux patients.
Il définit les POC comme des personnes présentant une peau plus foncée de phototype IV à VI selon la classification de Fitzpatrick; cette définition englobe, mais sans s’y limiter, diverses races, dont les Asiatiques, les Afro-Américains, les Latinos et les peuples indigènes.
